Chaffee County Habitat for Humanity is pleased to announce the results of their 3rd Annual Mac & Cheese Bake-Off Fundraiser held at the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Resort Pavilion on Thursday, July 28, 2016. More than 175 people were in attendance and $7,000 was raised at this fundraising event to benefit the affordable housing cause in Chaffee County. We would like to thank everyone that contributed to the success of the 3rd Annual Mac & Cheese Bake-Off!
Three competitors in the restaurant category and 13 in the individual category vied for the people’s choice. First place in each category was awarded a $75 Visa gift card and a first place certificate. For the attendees, there was an amazing assortment of macaroni and cheese recipes to sample. The variety ranged from soup to main dishes. After counting the votes, Brett Boren, banquet chef at Mt. Princeton, was selected in the restaurant category and Jennifer Garcia was selected in the individual category as the 2016 Mac & Cheese Bake-Off Champions. Congratulations Brett and Jennifer!
The silent auction was also a great success. The auction was comprised of more than 40 items donated by individuals, local artists, and several Chaffee County businesses. Some of the items included rafting trips, resort packages, gift cards, jewelry, and artwork. Additionally, the auction included a set of hand-made Adirondack furniture made by students enrolled in the carpentry program at the Crowley County Correctional Facility.
