My name is Adhel Deng & I’m currently a junior at The University of Kansas. I’m pursuing a bachelor’s degree in communications with a strong concentration in public relations and a Spanish minor. I’m originally from South Sudan but moved to the States in 2003 with my mother and 6 siblings to reside in Overland Park, KS. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, working out, or cuddling with my puppy, Zeena. I have several outside interests, including photography, dancing, and foreign languages.
I’m hoping to gain an opportunity to apply the skills that I’ve learned in my classes, particularly Principles of Public Relations, to start building real-world experience. I feel the next step to growing as a student is to apply those skills to an office environment, and after that, obtain a full-time job in the industry. I have also taken steps to ensure that other countries will be part of my future. I will utilize the skills I have learned, as well as gain new skills and abilities that I have yet to experience while working at Chaffee County Habitat for Humanity!
