Build Location: 11244 County Road 198, Nathrop, CO 81236
Start Date: Spring 2025
Completion Date: October 2025

October 2025:

Chaffee County Habitat for Humanity (CCHfH) celebrated the completion of construction on our 26th new home build with a dedication ceremony on October 25th in Nathrop, Colorado, during the inaugural Habitat for Humanity International Rural Rally — as part of the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project. Corina Walker was officially welcomed into her new home, surrounded by family, friends, Habitat volunteers, as well as several local, regional, and state government officials.

June 2025 Update:

Since our April update, Chaffee County Habitat’s dedicated volunteer crew has made significant progress on the build site. Their work consisted of finishing the trim for the fascia and soffit, removing scaffolding, framing for the range vent exhaust duct, installing the exterior doors, the backing for the drywall, and the remaining hurricane clips. Professional contractors completed the plumbing and electrical rough-in and installed shingles on the roof.

As you can see, things are progressing quickly with the build. If you are interested in helping out on this project, please sign up to volunteer. For more information about volunteer opportunities, contact CCHfH at 719-395-0482. Stay tuned for updates!

April 2025 Update:

Our hardworking and dedicated volunteers have made significant progress since our last update in early March. We can always use more help, and we hope you’ll consider volunteering. Whether you can contribute two hours or eighty hours, we would greatly appreciate your help at the build site, as well as outside of the construction zone. Volunteer opportunities include construction, site hosting, meal preparation, and assistance with our traveling groups who arrive to build for either a day or sometimes a week.

Without the volunteer effort, we cannot accomplish our mission of building homes, communities, and hope in Chaffee County. Thank you to all of our volunteers who have contributed their time and talents to support housing in our community.

We look forward to seeing you either on or off the build site soon.

Community Partnership: 2Brothers Concrete, LLC

Thank you, 2Brothers Concrete LLC., for partnering with Chaffee County Habitat for Humanity! On April 18th, they arrived at our build site in Nathrop to pour and finish the concrete slabs at no cost to our organization. Pouring and finishing concrete slabs is a crucial step in construction, and having local businesses involved enhances the efficiency and quality of the work. If you’re interested in collaborating with Chaffee County Habitat, please call 719-395-0482 or email coordinator@chaffeehabitat.org.

February Update:

We kicked off the 2025 build season in mid-February at 11244 County Road 198 in Nathrop.

Bugling Bull Excavating completed the excavation of the site, and installed the water spigot and water connection sleeve. Sangre de Cristo Electric set the power box and Chaffee Habitat volunteers are working on the footing for the foundation.

Chaffee County Habitat for Humanity (CCHfH) is in need of volunteers and no experience is necessary. Each build requires approximately 300 volunteers to complete the construction of a home. The majority of our volunteer base is local individuals, organizations, and businesses. We also offer volunteer opportunities for groups who travel to the area from across the country.
