What is Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build? The Women Build is a Habitat for Humanity program for women who want to learn construction skills and build homes and communities. This program brings together women from all walks of life to address the housing crisis facing millions of women and children worldwide. No construction experience is necessary!
During the 2019 Women Build on October October October 4th & 5th, we worked at our 21st & 22nd build sites located at 11409/11411 County Road 197-B in Nathrop. On Friday, the team worked on measuring, cutting, and hanging Blue Board foam insulation. Blue Board is an Extruded Polystyrene (XPS), its blue color is a trademark (XPS), its blue color is a trademark of the Dow Chemical Company. The Saturday group completed the blue board and installed the Dow WEATHERMATE™ Plus House-wrap.
Dow and Habitat for Humanity have partnered together in the US since 1983, and internationally since 1993, to provide safe & affordable housing to low-income families in communities around the world. Every year Dow contributes to both the annual Jimmy Carter Work Project and community builds. Dow’s commitment to Habitat for Humanity includes financial, product and volunteer contributions through a global partnership.
On October 4th & 5th the ladies had a fabulous time, learned new construction skills and made a significant contribution towards affordable housing in Chaffee County. Each attendee received a Chaffee County Habitat for Humanity gift bag filled with various Habitat logo items in appreciation of their support. We would especially like to thank Mary Hay for serving as the Site Host for both days of the 2019 Women Build. She does an amazing job keeping everything organized and always pitches-in wherever there is a need for assistance.
