Affordable Home Improvement

The Chaffee County Habitat for Humanity ReStore welcomes the public to shop our inventory of donated new and reusable building materials. Products offered include kitchen cabinets, appliances, doors, windows, tile, hardwood flooring, light fixtures, household items and furniture, as well as many other items to help you complete your home improvement projects. Items are sold at 50% to 80% of retail.

This is an exciting opportunity to improve your home while helping Chaffee County Habitat for Humanity build more affordable homes with families in need.

ReStore Mission

Chaffee County Habitat for Humanity ReStore supplies overstocked, discontinued, new and used building materials donated by manufacturers, stores, contractors and individuals. These donated items are sold to the public at bargain prices or used in the construction of Habitat houses. Revenue from ReStore sales go to building homes.

Donating Material

Local builders, contractors, business and individuals are encouraged to donate new or re-usable materials, as well as any inventory that is overstocked or discontinued to the Chaffee County Habitat for Humanity ReStore. The ReStore provides an alternative and cost-effective means for disposal of usable items that might normally be thrown away. Habitat for Humanity is a not-for-profit entity and donations are tax-deductible.

Acceptable Donations

  • Appliances – washer, dryer, refrigerator, microwave, stove, dishwasher; clean and working order; 10 years old or less, electric only – no gas
  • Architectural items – antiques, columns, mantles, etc.
  • Cabinets
  • Carpet – new or lightly used only, no stains other damage
  • Counter tops
  • Doors – good condition (no broken glass)
  • Electrical – usable fixtures, parts and supplies
  • Ceiling fans – in complete working order, fully intact
  • Furniture – no stains or other damage
  • Flooring – wood, ceramic tile, vinyl new only
  • Hardware – knobs, hinges, locks, nails, cabinet pulls, bolts, nuts, screws
  • Household items – kitchen, nic-nacs, books, CDs and DVDs
  • Landscape materials – patio and paving stone, brick
  • Lumber
  • Paint – full, unopened paint or stain
  • Plumbing – usable fixtures, parts and supplies
  • Roofing materials
  • Siding – vinyl or aluminum
  • Tools – hand, garden, working power
  • Windows – no broken glass

ALL donations must be pre-approved.

Volunteer Opportunities

The ReStore operates primarily on volunteer power. Discover a fun opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. Volunteer opportunities range from:

  • Helping with customer service
  • Assisting at the sales counter
  • Operating cash register and credit card machine
  • Organizing items within the ReStore
  • Driving/picking up donations
  • Salvage projects
  • Managerial
