Repair Projects:  2 homes on Crestone Avenue, Salida

Latest Project: Duplex on Crestone Avenue, Salida

Services:  New Home Construction, Homeowner Education, Family Support, Mortgage Lending on homes constructed, Repair / Rehabilitation, Volunteer Service & Training, Recycling & Re-sale of Home Goods & Construction Materials.

WHO QUALIFIES (must meet all requirements below)

  • Need – Income – 30 to 60% AMI (Area Median Income from HUD figures) – Current living conditions are inadequate, substandard or not affordable
  • Ability to Pay the Mortgage – CCHFH determines an applicant’s ability to pay a mortgage by looking at income (tax returns & pay stubs) plus credit history – Residents of Chaffee County – 1 year minimum residence or work history
  • Willingness to Partner – Complete sweat equity hours – 250 for single-adult family, 500 for two-adult family (six hours completed in application process) – Prepare a plan & save $1,000 for closing costs – Have a home visit from the Family Selection Committee – Attend classes in home ownership, financial management and other areas – Participate in special events, publicity and special ceremonies

Application & Selection Process

  1. Complete housing interest form
  2. Meet with the Family Selection Committee and receive a home application
  3. Submit completed home application verification process
  4. Answer questons that arise in the application verification process
  5. Submit additional documents as requested by CCHFH
  6. Complete six volunteer hours at approved agencies / non-profits
  7. Receive a home visit & family interview by the CCHFH Family Selection Committee
  8. Await final notification

Road to Home Ownership for Partner Families

  1. Complete 50 hours comunity service prior to ground breaking
  2. Complete remaining sweat equity hours by helping construct their home & taking classes
  3. Training Classes include:   Home Ownership, Financial Management / Budgeting, Good neighbor, Legal Aspects of Home Ownership, Controlling Energy Costs
  4. Participate in special events and publicity
  5. Sign mortgage papers with $1,000 down at closing
