Erin Bissette

Erin Bissette

I’m a rising senior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill studying public relations in the journalism school. I am most excited to be able to wear chacos to work, but least excited to spend the summer away from my dog, who lives in my hometown of Charlotte, NC. After work, I can probably be found running, listening to bluegrass, hiking, watching a rerun of The Office, or all of the above. I can’t wait to get to know everyone involved with Habitat this summer, and discover the best coffee shop in Chaffee County.

Elizabeth Weber

Elizabeth Weber

My name is Elizabeth Weber I am currently going into my senior year of college at the University of Northern Colorado. I am studying business marketing and I hope to eventually get a job with a non profit business.  I grew up in Colorado Springs and I have spent every summer since I was young camping and enjoying mountain activities. My favorite past times for summer include rafting and hiking. I am excited to be able to live in the mountains all summer and I look forward to hiking some of the fourteeners in the Buena Vista Area!  I spent last semester studying abroad in Trieste, Italy and was fortunate enough to spend those months exploring Europe. I am happy to be back in Colorado and  I look forward to the coming months working for Habitat. I am ready to learn all about life as a Marketing and PR intern!

My name is Daniel Aburto and I am a rising senior at the University of Texas at Austin. I will be graduating next year, 2016, majoring in Urban Studies with a minor in Architecture. I lived in Mexico until I turned eleven years old and then moved to El Paso Texas, where my father began to work as an Interior Designer. He took me to work with him, on many of his projects, to constructions sites where I began to raise an interest in construction and architecture. Eventually, I participated with homebuilders, for the remodeling of some of their houses, and also got the opportunity to work with the city of El Paso to design an underpass on Downtown El Paso. I truly appreciated the summer internship opportunity in Buena Vista because of how much I learned about construction, and also meeting all the people that it takes to make someone’s new home. I not only enjoyed learning new skills and working at the jobsite, but I also had a great time hanging out with my roommates. We spent our time away from the project site participating in all the outdoor activities Colorado had to offer.

Joshua Garza pic

Joshua Garza is a Corporate Communication Junior at the University of Texas and greatly enjoyed relocating to Buena Vista for the summer. Josh is a native Austinite and has had a passion for home building and architecture from a very young age.  He sees this internship as an opportunity to gain valuable skills and experience a beautiful part of the country. He embraced spending the summer here in Buena Vista and appreciated meeting the many Habitat for Humanity volunteers in Chaffee County. Along with Josh’s passion for homes he brought two years of project management experience as well as an entrepreneurial spirit. Josh founded Garza Capital, a small landscape design and maintenance company in November of 2012 and has enjoyed getting to see his business grow. While attending The University of Texas at Austin Josh has become involved in a number of organizations and local engagements. Josh serves on the Executive Board of Christians in Business Organization, as the Financial Director for Campus Men’s Initiative, is a Community Member for the Strategic Planning team for Austin Independent School District and enjoys leading his small group of 7th grade students at his local church. During his summer in Chaffee County, Josh not only worked diligently on site but maintained a life balance exploring our beautiful area. Josh shared a 100 year old cabin with three other interns. The experience was impactful on all with strong bonds being developed.
